Gifted Musician - Our Story So Far
Gifted Musician was formed in 2006 by two enthusiastic musicians who had spent much of their lives involved in various musical endeavours both in an amateur and professional capacity.
The original concept for their Company was to bring together a range of quality gifts (hence the Company name), cards and accessories, all with a music theme. The range was to be designed to appeal to those who were passionate about their hobby or career in music, but also to be accessible to people who were not necessarily musicians themselves, but wanted to find an unusual gift for a musical friend or family member. It was important that items sold represented value for money, that customers enjoyed receiving their purchases, and that sales were backed up with an excellent and friendly service.
The two musicians than set about using their knowledge, experience and general joy as practising musicians (in all senses!) to bring together the range. The first collection of items was launched via the Gifted Musician website in 2007. Shortly after, a first shop premises was opened in Brighton. Local requests led to the sale of sheet music, which was then added to the website offering. In 2011 the business moved to a more prominent shop premises, and extended the range of goods available from the shop to include classical guitars. In 2014 we moved to our current premises in Steyning High Street.
The online gift, card, accessory and sheet music range is regularly expanded and updated, and now includes some 'in house' designs, available exclusively via Gifted Musician.
Despite the difficult economic conditions that took hold so soon after the business was launched, Gifted Musician has been heartened by the valued support of all its customers, and the great feedback received.
Are they still enthusiastic musicians? Yes indeed. One of our directors currently sings in a chorus that regularly performs at major venues across the UK and further afield. She is a qualified guitar teacher (LTCL), and also studied singing, piano and, more recently, violin. Our other director is a regular member of a guitar trio, and also studied clarinet. More recently he has undertaken a violin making course, and in 2011 finished hand crafting his first instrument. Their main challenge?... finding the time to fit in all the practise and playing they'd like to do (and need to do for next auditions etc!) ...but as you probably know musicians...you'll know all about that!
